What are the methods for forming biomass fuel?

Time:2026-01-24
The birth of biomass fuel is a significant step forward for humanity in achieving green, environmental-friendly, and energy-efficient development. As the fourth-largest energy source in the world, following oil, coal, and natural gas, biomass energy not only reduces fuel production costs, but also realizes waste recycling, thereby greatly protecting the environment and conserving resources. However, how is such high-quality fuel molded into finished products? Nantong Leixin, a professional manufacturer of biomass fuel, is here to give you a detailed introduction.

Dahua states that the main molding methods of biomass fuel are as follows: cold molding, hot pressing molding, and room-temperature wet pressing molding.
  1. Cold Molding refers to the process of extruding biomass particles into desired shapes under high pressure at room temperature. Its bonding force mainly comes from the heat generated during extrusion, which plasticizes the lignin in biomass to achieve adhesion. The cold pressing molding process generally requires high molding pressure. To reduce the required pressure, a certain amount of binder can be added during the molding process.
  2. The process flow of hot pressing molding includes: raw material crushing, drying and mixing, extrusion molding, and cooling and packaging. According to the different heating positions of raw materials, this method is divided into two categories: one is that raw materials are only heated at the molding section; the other is that raw materials are heated separately before entering the compressor and at the molding section.
  3. Room-temperature Wet Pressing Molding: After fiber-based raw materials are decomposed to a certain extent, the fibers become soft, moist, wrinkled, and partially degraded, making them easy to compress and mold. By using simple molds to squeeze out the moisture from partially degraded agricultural and forestry residues, low-density compressed biomass fuel can be formed.
Each of the above three compression molding methods for biomass fuel has its own characteristics, and all of them can be used to produce biomass pellet fuel. It is hoped that the above introduction can enhance your understanding of biomass fuel.
